Carbon Steel EN-1A is a low-carbon, free-machining steel that typically contains 0.07–0.15% carbon and about 0.9–1.3% manganese, along with sulfur (0.2–0.3%) to enhance machinability. This unique composition allows EN-1A to be exceptionally easy to machine while maintaining dimensional accuracy. Although it’s not suitable for heat treatment, it can be case-hardened to boost surface wear resistance. The material generally boasts a tensile strength of 370–460 MPa and a yield strength of around 220 MPa. Thanks to its low carbon content, it also provides good weldability and cold formability, making it a great choice for turned parts and high-volume machining.
