Stainless Steel 321 Flat Bar is an austenitic stainless steel alloy primarily made up of iron, chromium (17–19%), nickel (9–12%), and titanium (5xC min to 0.70%). The presence of titanium helps stabilize the material, preventing carbide precipitation during welding. This grade boasts impressive strength, with a typical tensile strength of 75 ksi (515 MPa) and a yield strength of 30 ksi (205 MPa). It also features a good elongation rate of 40% and retains its mechanical properties even at elevated temperatures. Additionally, 321 stainless steel is highly resistant to oxidation and intergranular corrosion, making it perfect for high-temperature structural applications.

The primary alloying element in Stainless Steel 321 is chromium, typically comprising around 17-19%. Chromium provides corrosion resistance, while titanium is added to improve high-temperature stability and prevent carbide precipitation during welding or prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.
Stainless Steel 321 is most suitable for temperatures ranging from 800°F to 1500°F (427°C to 815°C). It excels in high-temperature environments due to its titanium stabilization, which prevents carbide precipitation and maintains corrosion resistance under prolonged heat exposure.
Typical dimensions of Stainless Steel 321 flat bars vary, with widths ranging from 20 mm to 150 mm, thicknesses between 3 mm and 50 mm, and lengths up to 6 meters, customizable based on specific requirements.
You’ll find Stainless Steel 321 Flat Bar in a variety of applications that demand high strength and corrosion resistance, particularly in elevated temperature settings. It’s commonly used in aerospace components, exhaust systems, furnace parts, chemical processing equipment, and thermal oxidizers. Thanks to its excellent weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion, it’s also a great fit for heat exchangers, expansion joints, and jet engine parts. The titanium content makes it especially suitable for environments that experience frequent thermal cycling. Industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, and power generation heavily depend on 321 Flat Bars for their durability and performance in challenging conditions.
