Stainless Steel 321 Bars and Rods are made from a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel alloy, featuring chromium content of 17–19%, nickel 9–12%, and carbon up to 0.08%. The addition of titanium helps prevent carbide precipitation, boosting resistance to intergranular corrosion during welding and exposure to high temperatures. In terms of mechanical properties, these bars and rods have a tensile strength of about 75 ksi (515 MPa), yield strength close to 30 ksi (205 MPa), and an elongation of 40%. This alloy also shows excellent oxidation resistance and maintains its strength and structural integrity during extended use at elevated temperatures, typically up to 900°C.
