Stainless Steel 430F (UNS S43020) is a ferritic stainless steel alloy that shines in machinability thanks to its higher sulfur content. It generally consists of 16–18% Chromium, ≤1.25% Manganese, ≤1.00% Silicon, and 0.60–1.00% Sulfur, with a very low Carbon content (max 0.12%). This alloy provides moderate corrosion resistance, particularly in mildly corrosive settings. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 515–790 MPa, a yield strength of about 345 MPa, and a hardness of up to 200 HB. While 430F can’t be hardened through heat treatment, it can be cold worked. It’s magnetic and maintains good dimensional stability during machining.
