The typical composition includes chromium (17–20%), nickel (9–13%), carbon up to 0.08%, and niobium (columbium) to prevent carbide precipitation. In terms of mechanical properties, they boast a tensile strength of around 75 ksi (515 MPa), yield strength close to 30 ksi (205 MPa), and an elongation of about 40%.
