Chuck Metals is a trusted name in Singapore when it comes to manufacturing and supplying Stainless Steel 446 Hex Bars. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch solutions throughout Pulau Ujong and across Southeast Asia. Our Stainless Steel 446 is a high-chromium ferritic alloy that stands out for its remarkable resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and scaling, even at high temperatures. Each of our 446 hex bars is crafted to meet global standards like ASTM A276, ensuring they have precise dimensions, a superior surface finish, and durability that lasts. These hex bars come in a variety of sizes, making them perfect for high-temperature and corrosive environments in industries such as power generation, metallurgy, and thermal processing.
When it comes to composition, Stainless Steel 446 Hex Bars typically contain 23–27% chromium, along with iron and small amounts of silicon and molybdenum, while keeping carbon content very low and virtually eliminating nickel. They boast impressive tensile strength ranging from 485–620 MPa and yield strength around 275 MPa, along with excellent thermal stability. This alloy can resist oxidation up to 1100°C and is also resilient against sulfidation and hot gas corrosion. While it’s magnetic and has decent formability, its weldability is somewhat limited. Although it’s not the best choice for highly acidic environments, it truly shines in high-heat, low-stress applications where it can withstand prolonged exposure to oxidizing conditions.

SS 446 Hex Bars offer excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability, making them ideal for harsh industrial environments. Their resistance to oxidation and high-temperature stability ensure reliability in applications like heat exchangers, chemical processing, and petrochemical industries.
SS 446 Hex Bar has superior high-temperature strength and excellent resistance to oxidation compared to other stainless steel alloys like SS 304 or SS 316. Its enhanced durability and corrosion resistance make it ideal for high-stress environments, such as heat exchangers, where other alloys may degrade or weaken over time.
Common machining techniques for SS 446 Hex Bars include turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Challenges include its high hardness and tendency to work-harden, which can lead to tool wear. Proper lubrication and slower cutting speeds are necessary to maintain tool life and achieve smooth, accurate finishes.
Stainless Steel 446 Hex Bars find their way into various industrial furnace components, such as burner nozzles, retorts, heat shields, and kiln linings, thanks to their exceptional heat and oxidation resistance. In the power and energy sector, you’ll see them used in boiler baffles, exhaust manifolds, and radiant tubes. The chemical and petrochemical industries rely on 446 hex bars for reactors and heater elements, where stability during thermal cycling is essential. Plus, their resistance to corrosion and scaling makes them ideal for waste incineration systems, refractory supports, and metallurgical applications that demand consistent performance even at extreme temperatures.
